The author

Serena Kosta

I write dark romance and psychological thrillers for adults: morally grey heroes, heroines who don't ask permission, and a love that looks a lot like a battlefield.

Four novels, written in Russian — my mother tongue — and translated into French by me. If you came for obsession, enemies to lovers, a slow burn that ends in ashes, and broken characters who don't get fixed in three chapters, you're in the right place.

Trauma doesn't fade — it imprints, and comes back without warning, at the turn of a smell or a silence. Every one of my heroines carries something real, sometimes still raw. My books don't run from pain; they speak to it as an equal.

What I write

I build worlds with the edges left on: manipulation, obsession, power that never sits evenly between two people. My heroines aren't victims, and they aren't heroes either — they make choices you wouldn't defend, for reasons you understand.

Alongside that, I write psychological fantasy for readers aged 9 to 12. The same interest in the inner world, in a different tone: fear, shame, the things we'd rather hide — told at a child's height.

Writing in two languages

I write in Russian, then translate into French myself. It isn't the fastest route, but it's the only one that keeps the rhythm: an outside translator carries the meaning, not the way a character holds their breath in the middle of a sentence.

English editions

The books aren't available in English yet. Until they are, the French and Russian editions are on sale here, and the first chapter of each one is free to read.

Real strength isn't invulnerability — it's the courage to show your scars. My books are an invitation to find beauty in the break.
